Apex Archaeology Inc. is an archaeological and heritage consulting firm that offers services related to archaeological and heritage concerns within the context of the planning, development and approvals process in Ontario.
Apex Archaeology Inc.’s vision is to operate as carbon zero archaeological consulting firm, while being an industry leader in First Nations engagement and consultation. To these ends, Apex Archaeology Inc. will be built on strong, meaningful relationships with First Nations and other stakeholders to provide unparalleled, environmentally-friendly archaeological services to our clients.

Our Team
Alex Cassidy-Neumiller has been active in the field of archaeology for over a decade. He has performed academic archaeological excavations and commercial archaeological assessments in five different countries across two continents. He has a B.A. in Anthropology from North Dakota State University (NDSU) in the United States and an M.A. in Archaeology from Durham University in the United Kingdom - a top 10 university in the world for the field of Archaeology. He has overseen the completion of hundreds of archaeological assessments and has authored or co-authored as many technical reports.
Alex was an Archaeological Principal investigator in North Dakota and is currently a consultant archaeologist with a Professional Archaeological License in good standing with the Ministry of Citizenship and Multiculturalism of Ontario. He is a member of the Ontario Archaeological Society (OAS) and the Association of Professional Archaeologists (APA). He is the founder and CEO of Apex Archaeology Inc.

Peter has worked in archaeology on multiple continents since his first field experience in 2018. He earned a B.A. in Archaeology & Heritage Studies from Wilfrid Laurier University. He also earned an M.A in Classical Studies & Archaeology from Queen’s University. Peter’s main research interest is ceramics and he is not particular with interests spanning from the Roman era to the modern.
Peter is a Licensed Research Archaeologist (R1429) with years of experience in Ontario. He has authored or co-authored over 100 reports accepted by the ministry and has catalogued thousands of artifacts. Peter is passionate about delivering high quality and prompt fieldwork wherever and whenever required.

Mathew Gibson
Licensed Research Archaeologist
Mathew Gibson has been involved in Ontario archaeology for over 15 years, first as a field technician, then as a field director since 2017. Mathew is currently working toward his professional license. He brings a wealth of field and lab experience to the team along with a huge collection of dad jokes. Mathew's area of research interest is 19th century historic sites and hopes one day to find examples of rococo edged ware.
